Senior conference producer
About The Client
Our Client produce prestigious, exclusive conferences and gatherings of the most senior level business executives, influencers, investors, thought leaders, policy makers and entrepreneurs. Our events are timed, themed and designed to compliment our magazines and reports which are published in The Daily Telegraph, The Sunday Telegraph and The Guardian newspaper.
The events coincide with the publication of supplements and online content, for example around a product or service launch- a particular marketing campaign, or a project intended to influence and lead opinion.
One of the key benefits of this symbiosis is their ability to ensure national press coverage of an event.
The events are also themed around their core business-to-business brands: Business Reporter, Business Technology and Eco Report.
The Role
Conference Producers are at the forefront of the company and specialise in business research and project management. You will research and put together the intellectual content of conference programmes at the cutting edge of business strategy. You will be responsible for structuring the conference agenda as a result of live telephone research with senior managers from section’s of companies, selecting and inviting high level speakers, copy writing, designing the conference brochure and ensuring profitability of entire projects - from the initial idea to the smooth running of the event. The Conference producer will have a lot of budgetary control and you will be making financial decisions that will have significant bottom line impact. Throughout the production cycle you will work closely with the Marketing Manager to ensure the best possible marketing campaign and with the Sponsorship Manager to put together an effective sponsorship strategy.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Undertake detailed telephone and desk research on specific conference topics and program themes with senior level business executives
• Collating information and conducting research analysis
• Develop intellectual content of the conference agenda based on research with the target market
• Secure senior level speakers for each event
• Coordinating with the editor to ensure product consistency between the event, printed publication and the online version.
• Copy writing and proof reading
• Marketing research and sponsorship lead generation and communication with those departments
• To execute and complete projects on time and on budget
• Onsite management of events
• Some conference administration
• Relationship management with speakers and delegates
• Liaising with other departments and external meetings
Behaviours and Skills Required
• Degree, ideally with commercial experience
• Strong verbal communication skills for telephone research
• Excellent written communication skills for copy writing
• A good and active listener
• The ability to sell an original idea to senior managers
• Strong time management skills - able to work to tight deadlines
• Entrepreneurial spirit with a creative flair
• High degree of interest in current business issues and industry trends
• Excellent project management skills
• A pro-active and tenacious personality
• Ability to translate key business issues into profit-focused, commercially-viable conferences
